In Detail
Christchurch AI startup Contented turned to Payper to help launch its $4.1M seed round announcement — and the result was one of the biggest tech funding stories in New Zealand so far this year.
Founded by Lucy Pink and Hannah Hardy-Jones, Contented has built a platform that captures business conversations and turns them into high-quality documentation and actionable insights. In the past year alone, the company grew from a handful of customers to over $1.4 million in annual recurring revenue — entirely bootstrapped.
Payper was engaged to manage the media strategy around the seed round announcement, which was oversubscribed and led by Altered Capital, with backing from Icehouse Ventures, Aspire NZ Seed Fund, K1W1, Shearwater Capital, Phase One Ventures, and Exhort Ventures.
We crafted a compelling media pitch centred on the story behind the founders, the remarkable growth trajectory of the business, and the scale of what Contented is building — not just for New Zealand, but for the world.
The result was a clean sweep of New Zealand's key business and tech media, with coverage landing across nine outlets on the day of the announcement. NBR, BusinessDesk, Reseller News, RNZ's Nine to Noon, The Press, Capital Brief and more all ran the story — delivering an estimated two million people reached in a single day.
RNZ's Nine to Noon programme featured co-founder Lucy Pink in a live interview with Kathryn Ryan, putting Contented in front of one of New Zealand's largest and most engaged morning audiences.
For Lucy and Hannah, the coverage validated not just the funding announcement, but the broader story of two female founders building a world-class technology company from Christchurch. That's a story Payper was proud to help tell.
We worked with Payper to announce Contented’s $4.1M seed round and the results were so amazing. More than 15 pieces of coverage across major New Zealand and Australian outlets - including a prime time radio interview and a reach of around two million people. What I love about Payper’s model is that it’s genuinely results-based: you’re paying for outcomes, not hours. The team knows exactly how to position a story and who to get it in front of. Highly recommend to any founder who wants PR that actually moves the needle.
